Govt likely to decrease gas prices by 6%

LAHORE: The government is likely to decrease gas prices by six to seven percent from January 1, Geo television reported on Wednesday. Sources in the Petroleum and Natural Resources Ministry told the channel that the Oil and Gas Regulator Authority (OGRA) had suggested a reduction of 10 percent in natural gas prices two weeks ago, and the ministry had forwarded OGRA’s proposals to the prime minister for approval. Sources in the Prime Minister’s Secretariat told Geo that Shaukat Aziz was expected to take a decision on the OGRA proposal on January 1. However, the channel said the reduction in gas prices would be around six to seven percent instead of the proposed 10 percent, and would apply to all consumers – industrial, commercial and domestic. daily times monitor
